Franziska (Franzi) Roesner holds a PhD in computer science and is a professor at the University of Washington in Seattle, teaching and researching computer security and privacy. She was a poet before she was a computer scientist, though; once upon a time she was involved and published in her Austin-area high school's literary magazine and won second place in a poetry contest as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin. She has returned to poetry recently with the help of Seattle's amazing Hugo House. She lives in Seattle with her husband, two daughters, and one remaining cat.
